You’re stuck.
It’s okay.
It happens to everyone.
But what should you do about it?
I recommend that you start with simple things, such as noticing the thoughts and images that you carry around in your mind.
Do this for a couple of days.
Then, with a heightened awareness of what’s going on in your mind, do one of the following exercises each day for a week. This will start to strengthen your magnificent mental faculties—your imagination, will, memory, perception, reason, and intuition—and help you get back on track quickly.
1. Create Future Memories
Unlike other creatures on earth, humans can think about, dream about, and even plan the future.
We don’t just plan; we see the future in our mind. We see the events, hear the sounds, and feel the emotions of each imagined experience.
Imagining the future is like remembering the past. It’s just remembering a future that hasn’t happened yet.
So, when you feel stuck or are off track, instead of using your imagination to reconstruct the past, use it to construct a wonderful memory and of what you want to experience.
Imagine it all—what you will see, hear, taste, touch, and smell when you reach your goal. And feel the emotions of the experience now to help your future memory become your reality.
2. Ask for Guidance
Get quiet and go inward for a few minutes. Then, ask spirit for guidance on something you’re stuck on, challenged with, or curious about.
For the rest of the day, remain open for insights, answers, and clues that will lead you in the right direction.
Whenever you feel a prompting from the inside, go with it. Don’t let your intellectual mind kick in and try to reason it away. Write it down, lock it in, and then listen for further guidance.
3. Change Your Perspective
Sometimes all it takes to get back on track is a simple shift in perspective.
For example, what do you see when you look at the illustration below?
At first, you might see a young lady. However, if you shift your perspective, you’ll see an older woman.
Whatever you perceive to be true about the illustration (i.e., it’s a young lady or an older woman) affects how you think, feel, and respond to it.
That’s the power of accepting a new perspective of any situation.
4. Put Some Life Into Your Ordinary Day
As adults, we tend to let complacency, security, and boredom set in. But not kids. They have the instinct to fight boredom, and in that respect, children are great actors. They’ll take the most mundane things and make them an adventure. They put some life into the ordinary.
So, for this exercise, put some life into your ordinary day. Spend some time writing out what an average day in your ideal life would look like. Use as much vivid detail as possible (when you’re using the imagination, there are no boundaries…no limitations).
Then, do some acting. Build an image of how you want to live and then act like the person you want to become. Like a child, you’ll be surprised and delighted by what happens.
5. Change Your Expectations
Just before you go to bed one night, set a clear, definite, POSITIVE expectation for the next day. Spend a few solid minutes concentrating on it. Repeat it to yourself. Write it in your journal. If your mind starts to wander, bring it back to your expectation.
Then say it to yourself again as soon as you wake up the next morning and repeat it a few more times as you get ready for your day.
You’re going to notice early in the day that you’re getting what you expected. And you’ll realize that by consciously keeping your expectations positive, you can create a great day.
6. Become a Conscious Creator
Do you think of yourself as creative?
Whether you realize it or not, you are. Your wonderful mind is creating every aspect of your life, on both a small and large scale, at every moment.
As you go through your day, take conscious control of your inherent creativity. Allow yourself to be creative in a way that is positive and productive for the life you really want. Spend time visualizing your goals, journaling affirmations, and letting your mind wander to unexplored territories.
Give yourself wholly to this process, and you will be amazed by the beautiful possibilities that reveal themselves to you.
7. Stop Trying So Hard
When you’re struggling to bring about a goal or dream, remember the information that’s coming from your five senses is only a representative of your current reality. And that reality is a reflection of what you have been thinking.
So, instead of continuing to do what you’ve been doing, stop, and think.
Recognize that you can reach your goal because you are hooked to the internet of the universe’s mind. And acknowledge that there’s an answer to any question and a solution to any problem you have.
Then, stop focusing on what’s coming from your senses and start thinking about where you want to go. Tune in to the energy that makes your answers and solutions welcome, and your situation will start to improve.
An excellent way to get started
To get your life on track, it’s so important that you become aware of any negative mental baggage—any false ideas about “the kind of person” you are, limitations you believe you have or guilt you are carrying around.
You need to identify that baggage, and then let it go. Unburden your mind of the false notion that something is standing in the way of you having exactly what you want in life.
So, here’s an exercise to do before you do any of the seven techniques above. Grab a blank sheet of paper and write all of your negative mental baggage down. Then, write the positive counterpart and opposite of the negative baggage in a journal or on a second sheet of paper.
Then, take the first piece of paper (the one with your mental baggage on it) and destroy it. Shred it or throw it in the fireplace.
The mind is highly receptive to symbolic acts. This one sends a clear message that you are letting go of the negative to make room for the positive. It’s empowering, exciting, and the perfect way to kick off your journey.
To more and better,
Sandy Gallagher
