Last year I was fresh out of school, full of energy, the world at my fingertips, with no idea of what I wanted to do with myself! I moved back home to contemplate my next move. I can imagine thousands of others in the same boat.
My mother was reading a book at the time, titled The Secret. I picked it up. At first I didn’t understand it, and even scoffed at its optimistic promises. I kept reading it every day, and the truth started to sink in, I CAN DO ANYTHING, AND YOU CAN TOO!
I read it twice. Three times. I wanted more. It pumped me up, but then I would put it down, and my old thought patterns would come racing back into my mind. I decided to delve deeper into this sort of philosophy.
I researched the “teachers” from the book. Many of them offered online life-coaching programs. “That’s it!” I thought, “I can learn how to live well, from the masters of life.” In my opinion, Bob Proctor was the most impressive of the bunch. I decided to make a significant (for me) financial investment in my own future, and enrolled in the Bob Proctor Coaching program. I’m so glad I did! As I saturated my mind with his lessons of personal achievement, I could literally feel my perception of the world, and my place in it, changing. I kicked bad habits. I developed good ones. I created a vision of my ideal life. I learned how to conquer fear. I took better care of my mind and my body. I gained self-confidence. I started earning more money. Perhaps most importantly, I began to practice gratitude in a big way!
I still review the material every day, months after the program has ended. The whole process was deeply transformational, and has led to a larger, happier, more fulfilling existence. One question remained, how can I share the “secrets” I have learned with other people? What can I create that will add the most value to humanity? This question became an obsession.
In all of the recommended texts (each a masterpiece in itself), I discovered a common thread:
In “Think and Grow Rich,” Napoleon Hill said, “Anything the mind of man can conceive, and believe, it can achieve.”
In “The Science of Getting Rich,” Wallace Wattles said, “Man must form a clear and definite mental image of the things he wishes to have, to do, or to become; and he must hold this mental image in his thoughts, while being deeply grateful to the Supreme that all his desires are granted to him.”
In “As a Man Thinketh,” James Allen said, “Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so shall you become.”
An even greater teacher said, “Whatsoever things ye ask for when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24)
“Hmmm,” I thought, “The greatest minds of history agree! The path is rather simple, so why is it so hard in practice?” It’s hard because we lose sight of what we want, or don’t truly believe we can achieve it! The principles of success are simple, but they must be applied persistently to have any effect.
So I decided to take action! To become a creator! To put what I have learned into practice! I decided, “I’m here to help people live the life of their dreams!” The result? A custom whiteboard designed to help people get crystal clear on their goals in life, and to use daily visualization and positive thinking to actually achieve them. It’s called the DreamBoard!
Fill it in with your biggest goals in life. Hang it on your wall, and read it every morning and night. When you read, visualize, feel, and believe that you have these things already! This is how I will share the great secret of life with the rest of the world. This is the distillation of all the personal development material I have absorbed on my journey. Right now we are raising money to launch this product on a crowdfunding website. Check it out! If you like the idea, please consider sharing it, ordering your own DreamBoard, or just copying the framework onto a piece of paper and hanging it on your wall! These principles will work for anyone, from a 5th grader wishing for better grades, to an ultra-high-achiever planning to earn five million dollars this year!
