When you were a child, did anyone ever read you a bedtime story?
Many people experienced it as a nightly ritual. You’d get into your pajamas, settle in under the covers, and let your imagination be carried away to a whole new place.
The magic of bedtime stories is that they plant visions in the young mind that is receiving them. Visions of how things “once upon a time” were, or how things could be in a time “far far away.” Visions of what it means to be good (and bad), of what the best course of action is in certain situations, of what people are capable of dreaming of, overcoming, and achieving.
But the power of these kinds of stories, the reason why they have such a tremendous and lasting impact on us and do so much to shape our understanding of the world and human nature, is that they present these visions as real. As actually, actively happening.
Stories aren’t maybes. They aren’t what-ifs. They ARE: present tense. The mind processes that kind of scenario in a whole different way. It much more readily accepts it as true — even if it isn’t.
Now, there’s an upside and a downside to this. We’ve talked about the negative consequences of accepting falsehood as truths in our discussions of paradigms.
But the best stories, the ones that have stood the test of time, have lasted because they present a reality that has, at its center, a proven truth, one that is directed towards a positive outcome and worthy of acceptance.
In my last post I shared with you the idea of switching up the calendar and holding New Year’s in November. I hope you took me up on that offer and that you’re working toward your goal right now.
But if you’re finding yourself hesitating to begin or struggling, either to establish your 2014 goal, or to believe you can really accomplish it, you might need to start in the same place your childhood nights used to end.
You might need to start with a story.
Right here on our website, we have a wonderful tool that will help you create a vision for your life. A story not of reality as it has been up until now, but of how it WILL be from this point forward.
It’s easy. It’s absolutely free. And it will do the same thing those magical bedtime stories did all those years ago. It will make the seemingly impossible possible. It will bring a new and different world to life. Most importantly, it will cause your amazing mind to begin accepting what you want for what already IS… and to respond accordingly in all sorts of phenomenal ways.
As you’ll realize the minute you see your vision articulated (you’ll receive it via email as soon as you complete the process), this is very, very powerful, and its power grows each time your mind takes it in. So print it, print out a dozen copies of it, and read it every chance you get. Then watch. Just like Napoleon Hill said, what your mind has conceived of and believes, it WILL achieve.
